An update of my sister’s Harry Potter sleeve. I have posted the bottom three before, but I wanted to give you an idea of how the whole thing looks. It’s almost done!
For those of you who haven’t seen previous posts, she has Hogwarts, a time turner, a snitch, Hedwig, a quote, a spell, some books, a candle, a wand, and a pair of lightning bolts. To answer your question: yes, my sister is more hard core than I am.
Serious shout out to your sister. I rarely ever see any original Harry Potter tattoos, but this is awesome!
Plastic wrap on tattoos
Let’s talk about a bad trend I’ve been seeing - plastic wrap on tattoos. It may look cool and seem like a good idea. Hey, you can show off your tattoo and still have it covered up! However, the reality is that it causes a lot of harm, and it’s not worth showing off your your new ink.
Starting with the obvious, plastic wrap is sanitary. You may think it is, but it really isn’t. Bacteria tends to cling to that stuff. Hands, even gloved ones, touching a roll of plastic wrap over and over again will transfer bacteria like crazy, and we all know increased bacteria causes an increase in the chance of infection. Seriously, guys. It’s extremely germ-filled, even around your food. It’s some pretty gross stuff.
With the plastic wrap on, your tattoo can’t breath. Because of this, the temperature will rise about 5 degrees, and if you’ve ever taken a biology class, you know that the warmer the environment, the easier it is for bacteria to develop. With the rise in temperature, your body will excrete more liquids, such as sweat, and the liquids will pull up causing easier contamination. That’s really not something you want on an open wound.
What should be done to cover a fresh tattoo?
First off, do not go to any tattoo “artist” that uses plastic wrap to cover new tattoos. If they aren’t aware of how nasty and unhealthy it is, they probably don’t know much about sanitary tattooing. This could mean avoiding a wicked infection.
Fresh tattoos should be bandaged properly in medical bandaging. This will allow your tattoo to breath, and having your tattoo covered in this manner will lower your risk of infection by a great deal. For this, pretty much any sterile bandaging material works. As long as it isn’t covered in plastic wrap and the tape isn’t touching your tattoo, you should be fine. Seriously, guys, even plastic wrap over the bandage will raise the temperature and possibly cause problems.
The wrong way:
The right way:
I know it doesn’t look as cool to have it properly bandaged, but in the long run, it’s for the best. The risk of getting an infection is lowered greatly. I mean, you want your tattoo to look good for a long time, don’t you? If it gets infected, it definitely won’t. Skip on the plastic wrap, and just wait a little bit before showing off your new tattoo. It’s for your own health and safety.

Nothing annoys me more than when people I know in real life ask me for tattoo advice and don’t listen to it.
When I say, “don’t get tattooed by your friend in your house,” it’s because I don’t want you to end up with some crazy infection and a shitty tattoo you will have for the rest of your life.
When I say, “that design wouldn’t transfer well to skin,” I’m not telling you that to be a dick. I am telling you that because I don’t want you to end up with something shitty that looks nothing like your original thought forever.
When I say, “don’t go to that artist, because they suck,” I MEAN IT. I do not care if they give you a “good deal.” No, their work is not “clean.” I have looked at portfolios of people in this area, and I know who sucks and who doesn’t.
UGHHHH DON’T MAKE ME WASTE MY TIME IF YOU WON’T LISTEN.
My first tattoo. Turned out better than I’d expected. Big thanks to Jeff at Tattoo Bill’s in Charlotte, NC, definitely going back there for my next one!
You’re right. You are not a gun. You are a person.
Anonymous asked: re: haley williams: the most irritating thing is that she gets some (questionably executed) flash and then attaches ~her own meaning~. Like, traditional tattoos have been kind of divorced from their original "meanings" and just exist to look super fucking rad, but a hand with an envelope is a dear john letter, not "a symbol of relationships with loved ones". like, the exact opposite of that. ugh. UGH. "meaningful tattoos" UGH.
I really hate it when people attach any sort of unusual meaning to tattoo flash. It’s like, you got that traditional rose because you thought it looked pretty, not because your great aunt twice removed’s dog poked his eye put on a rose thorn or something.
A depiction of our solar system from the Pioneer plaque. Designed and created by Carl and Linda Sagan, this and a few other images simply showing human knowledge of our solar system and universe was aboard the Pioneer 10 spacecraft; one of the first man made object to leave our solar system. (I decided to give pluto love because the poor guy deserves a break. It’s not his fault he hasn’t been able to orbit the sun even once since his discovery!)
Done by Tony at Urban Art Tattoo in Mesa, AZ.
So, you are praising science, but at the same time, denying the scientific fact that Pluto is no longer a planet? That’s just dumb. Carl Sagan would accept the fact that Pluto isn’t a planet anymore, I am sure of that.
drug-party asked: the grammar at the german i refuse to sink tattoo is right :) trust me, i'm german :D
Aww :(
This is my “In Memory Of…” tattoo for my mom who passed away when I was 18 years old (I’m 22 now…with MUCH better tattoos). I’m adopted, but she has Irish heritage which is why I got a celtic heart-knot.
When the ‘artist’ was done and I saw it in the mirror..I was so pissed off…just look at it. He left off the hyphen in the top date, the line work and shading in the heart is horrifying…the heart isn’t even symmetrical. …like what the hell?!
So yes…here’s my crappy tattoo.
Shop Warning: Never go to Ink Link Tattoo in West Palm Beach, FL. Save yourself the money and heartache.
Omg I am so sorry. I hate seeing poorly done memorial tattoos, because it makes me feel bad.
If you want to, you could look into seeing an artist to get this covered. You could get something beautiful to represent your mom covering it!
Anonymous asked: Hi! Do you like Hayley Williams tattoos?
Idk they aren’t the worst tattoos I’ve seen and a couple of them are okay, but a couple of them are so try-hard it hurts oh my god
Hey, guys~ Sorry for the absence there (I was working a lot and Animal Crossing: New Leaf came out lol), but I am back and will be posting regularly again.
And by the way, thank you all for the music recommendations. I’m gonna get around to listening to those soon. (◡‿◡✿)
what are you into?
Pretty much anything tbh. I listen to a lot of goth metal and glam metal, and I like electronic and acoustic stuff and other kinds of rock and rap. I am seriously not that picky when it comes to music as long as it sounds nice.
Not about the blog!!!!
But I want some new music to listen to. What are your favorite musicians/bands?
